Starting from the\nfestival of \u2018Tera\u2019, this dance is performed till Diwali. Instead of kahalya and\ndholak, madal and tin are the instruments played during this dance. Villagers\nflock at one place after the dinner to view and perform this dance. Only males\nparticipate in the dance. Among the performers, one plays madal, the other\nplays tin, few others sing and rest of them dance. It starts with a \u201cNaman\nGeet\u201d, a song that greets and worships various tribal Gods. During the\nNamangeet, all the performers sit together and sing. Namangeet starts with\nsalutation towards mother Earth, followed by cow, Kanasari Devi, Vagh Dev, Nag\nDev, Son, Moon, Gam Dev, Hanumandada etc. Towards the end, they salute Dholi\n(one who plays Madal), dancers, singers, villagers and at last the viewers.\nDancers then wear the anklets and start the actual dance. In this dance,\ndancers move in a circular form assuming virasan (warrior pose). First, they\ndance standing, then they dance bending and then with more force in Virasan. It\nis very strenuous and exhausting. Unlike other dances, singing is compulsory in\nthis dance. An important characteristic of this dance is the tradition of\n\u2018questions\u2019 and \u2018answers\u2019 during the dance session.', u'editable': False, u'ranges': [{u'start': u'/div[3]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[1]/div[4]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[2]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[2]/div[1]/div[6]/u[1]/span[1]', u'end': u'/div[3]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[2]/div[1]/div[4]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[2]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[1]/div[2]/div[1]/div[9]', u'startOffset': 0, u'endOffset': 0}], u'text': u'Thakrya-dance Dang Gujarat', u'permissions': {u'read': [], u'admin': [], u'update': [], u'delete': []}} created: Thu, 09 Jul 2015, 07:51 AM UTC
